The Town of Louisburg is seeking a skilled, ambitious, and personable individual to serve as Town Clerk/Administrative Assistant.  This position performs highly responsible primary administrative functions and provides clerical support for the Town Administrator, Mayor, and Town Council.  Responsibilities include keeping minutes of the Council meetings and for the publication, indexing, filing and safekeeping of all Council proceedings in accordance with general statutes and local ordinances. Considerable tact, courtesy, and firmness are required in dealing with the public.  Work is performed in accordance with North Carolina General Statutes, Town ordinances, codes and policies, personnel laws and regulations, and standard office procedures governing the responsibilities of Town Clerks.  This position works under the general supervision of the Town Administrator.

This position requires a minimum of an Associate Degree and three (3) years of responsible administrative experience.  Experience in a Municipal or County Government Clerk’s Office is preferred.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Competent in Logics (or similar financial management platform). 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Valid North Carolina Driver’s License; Certification as a Notary Public; Current Designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk by the Institute of Government or the ability to obtain certification within a year of employment.
