Hiring Range:  $71,640 – $80,000

The Town of Louisburg is seeking a skilled, ambitious, and personable individual to serve as Town Finance Director. Town of Louisburg, NC – Louisburg located 30 miles northeast of Raleigh, NC, is seeking an experienced professional to lead the financial activities of the Town and to be a member of the Town’s executive team. Qualified candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of leadership in local government finance, including direct responsibility in planning, organizing, and managing the operations of a local government Finance Department. This position works under the general supervision of the Town Administrator.

REQUIREMENT: Specific knowledge and expertise of a successful candidate should include: Demonstrated experience with municipal budgeting and financial strategic planning, including the management of a general, electric, water and sewer funds.  Preparing annual financial statements, strong organizational, presentation, and management skills ability to communicate effectively and achieve buy-in from staff, department heads, management, and elected officials. Development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and practices, Strong understanding of state and federal laws related to local government finance as well as the requirements of the North Carolina Local Government Commission. Preparation for audits, overall experience in utility billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, capital financing and grants. Proficiency in Microsoft office package. 

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field; CPA preferred. Five or more years of progressively responsible local government finance experience, including two or more years of management level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. North Carolina local government experience and a North Carolina Local Government Finance Officer Certification or equivalent is highly desired. The Town of Louisburg’s FY 2023-2024 budget is $16,777,287.
