New planning and zoning director

Town of Louisburg is excited to introduce our new planning and zoning director, Mr. Philip Slayter. Mr. Slayter is a relative newcomer to the Triangle area since moving from Charleston, South Carolina this past spring 2019.  Previously, he had spent 12 years as the Director of Planning & Development with Colleton County Government in Walterboro, SC.  Prior to his employment with the County, Mr. Slayter was the Director of the Office of Regional Development with SC State Government.  He also worked as the Planning Director of the Central Midlands Council of Governments in Columbia and earlier served as a staff planner for local and regional governments in Louisiana and New Mexico.  He holds a graduate degree in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina and a second master’s in public administration from the University of South Carolina. His undergraduate degree is from Louisiana Tech University.

Among his other professional credits, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and was formerly on the Executive Board of the SC Chapter of the American Planning Association. He has also co-authored the South Carolina publications, Local Officials Guide To Zoning and the Local Officials Guide To Planning.
